FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS HAVE HARMED WORKERS STILL LEFT WORKING IN AMERICA ! THEY ARE THE ROOT CAUSE OF DECADES OF STAGNANT AND DECLINING WAGES.

It’s all well and good to talk about the millions of jobs lost to lopsided free trade agreements.  But that’s not the half of it.

The real and silent killer harm – to ALL American workers left working – is decades-long stagnant and declining wages !  The real significant damage caused by these lopsided free trade agreements has been the chilling effect on wages among Americans still fortunate enough to have jobs.

The multinational corporations and domestic, smaller American employers trailing along have used the THREAT of moving factories, offices and WORK OFFSHORE to hold down and, in real economic terms, decrease real wages.

It’s the supreme irony.  The very existence of free trade has been used as a sword against the American workers left standing to hold and drive down their wages. It’s time to recognize this problem and figure out how to address it.

So, the fancy language that Americans benefit from free trade has really impoverished tens upon tens of millions of EMPLOYED American workers. And the result?  The “giant sucking sound” of hard-working employed workers – while working – falling out of the middle class!

When free trade becomes “what’s sauce for the goose (foreign workers), is sauce for the gander (American workers) – then we will once again start to see what the “business of America” is really about – the whole of working America being part of the middle class – and enjoying well-being and a future for their families and children.
